As you can see, it was a happy and convivial occasion! We were so pleased that so many experienced, charming, friendly and talented people could join us, including Father John Russell, SJ, Sir David Akers-Jones, Mrs Libby Wong, Chairman of the Royal Commonwealth Society Hong Kong Mr Peter Mann, Chairman of the English-Speaking Union Hong Kong Dr Verner Bickley, Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Hong Kong Writers' Circle Peter Humphreys and Brooke Richter, long-standing Proverse authors, Victor E. Apps, Philip Chatting, Orville Leverne (Lee) Clubb, Celia Claase, Akin Jeje, Birgit Bunzel Linder, James Tam, and Roger Uren.
The Winners of the Proverse Prize 2015, Lawrence Gray ("Adam's Franchise") and Gustav Preller ("Curveball"), were given their awards. Jan Pearson, winner of a supplementary prize in the 2014 international Proverse Prize competition ("Black Tortoise Winter") and Sanja Särman ("Beyond Brightness") joined Lawrence and Gustav to launch and introduce their books. Also launched was Jonathan Locke Hart's long poem, "The Burning Lake".
Writers joined us from Australia, Italy, Malaysia and South Africa. We were delighted also to welcome writers presently attending the Hong Kong Baptist University annual International Writers' Workshop, Brian Kim Stefans and Minna Salami.
Proverse co-publisher and Proverse Prizes co-founder, Verner Bickley, presented the Proverse Prize to the two winners, acknowleged the four launching authors present and announced the winners in the inaugural international Proverse Poetry Prize competition and acknowledge those present.
The event was hosted by Gillian Bickley, Proverse co-publisher and Proverse Prizes co-founder.
